#1 Tip for the Artist
Do not be afraid to explore your creativity. Start—not tomorrow, but today—because life is short. All you have is now. Your work doesn’t need to be spectacular, but it does need to be you. The expression of yourself is truly unique. Nobody else has it.
So many artists discount themselves as “nothing.” But you are not nothing. You are special, and you’ve been given the gift of art. Use it. Don’t hide it. If you don’t express it in some way, you’ll feel the pressure building up inside of you. It needs to come out!
Grab a pen, your phone, or whatever tool you choose, and start drawing, taking pictures, or creating in any way that feels right. You don’t need to show your work to anyone right away. It’s raw when it first comes out. Let it settle. Come back after a couple of days and review it.
Don’t let other people’s opinions make you quit. Persist.
